Petals Over POverty
(Rotary Roses)
Did you get your dozen?
Every year you will hear members Of the Club asking this question to everyone within an earshot. But whY? Besides helping to fund our STRIVE program, Burke Sunrise researches and chooses a local charity that makes an impact on poverty in Burke County.
Beginning in 2002 The Club began by supporting Rotary INternational's Goal of whiping out Polio throughout the world. Since then, the focus has been on local poverty.
Burke United Christian MinIstries, Good Samaritan Clinic, Burke LIteracy Council, and Options were the recipients of the proceeds over the last four years.
All members are asked to sell a minimum of ten-dozens of roses. In 2007 and in 2008, nearly 350 dozens were purchased by Burke COunty Supporters. To continue this great work, mark your calendar to purchase at least a dozen for that administrative professional or loved one!
